Sizing your injectors properly ensures the final step in the fuel delivery system will deliver enough fuel at max power, while also allowing you the most control over the fuel delivery at idle and cruise conditions.
You cannot use injectors that are too small to deliver enough fuel under max power.
You also don't want to use injectors that are way oversized, as it will make idle and cruise tuning far more difficult than it will be with the right sized injectors.
NOTES:
- The BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) value is critical. It's a measure of how efficiently your engine uses the fuel that it receives. Use the table below the calculator to choose this value. If in doubt, use the higher of the range for your application. For example - Gasoline: 0.45 to 0.50 - choose 0.50. This will give you a slightly larger size injector result giving you a little more headroom.
- Max Duty Cycle % is usually set between 80% and 85%
- The calculated flow rate will be the equivalent to the injector manufacturer's flow rate at their flow test pressure. So, if an injector is rated at 550cc at 4Bar, and you need injectors around that size, you will have to run 4Bar fuel pressure to get the calculated fuel delivery.
