Loom side connector is not supplied.
DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE GEAR SELECTION:
Please follow the recommendations below when choosing the appropriate gear for your application.
SG (Spheroidal Graphite) Iron Gears – Used with regular cast iron flat tappet camshafts whether using hydraulic or mechanical lifters only.
SI (Silicon) Bronze Gears – Used with steel roller camshafts whether using hydraulic or mechanical lifters only.
Treated Steel Gears – Used with cast roller camshafts whether using hydraulic or mechanical lifters only.
Nylon Gears – On Holden 6 cylinder and Chrysler Hemi 6 cylinder and Slant 6 cylinder engines a nylon gear is used for the following reasons. 1/. None of these engines drive the distributor and the oil pump on the same shaft. 2/. The nylon gear is beneficial in absorbing chatter and vibration that occurs in these 6 cylinder engines.
Please note, some cam manufacturers suggest that their cast roller cams “will work with most cast iron distributor gears”. However, we have not found this to be the case, irrespective of the brand of cast iron gear. As per recommendation above, a steel gear is the recommended choice.
Further, never use a steel gear with a steel roller camshaft. Always use the SI Bronze option, as it is always preferable to have the distributor gear as the sacrificial item.
DESCRIPTION:
This replacement distributor has 2 Hall Effect Sensors for clean trouble free output inside it. One provides 6 pulses (reference triggers) per cam shaft revolution and the other 1 pulse (sync trigger) per cam shaft revolution. This provides the Engine Management System with the information to run full sequential firing of the injectors and the ignition. Note :- the Engine Management System needs to be capable to perform this – Check with your Engine Management System supplier.
These can also be supplied with a billet cover in place of the distributor cap if you are using coil packs or individual coils per cylinder.
